Shipping a co-op survival title on four platforms in one year
An indie studio with a strong concept and a twelve-person team needed production muscle to hit a console launch window.
- Platforms, same-day launch
- 4
- Units in first quarter
- 1.3M
- Positive review score
- 92%
The challenge
Orbit had a vertical slice players loved and no route to a simultaneous PC and console release. Netcode was prototype quality, and certification was an unknown.
What we did
- 01Embedded a 24-person production squad alongside the studio's own team
- 02Rebuilt multiplayer on a dedicated-server model with rollback for combat
- 03Set up an automated build farm producing certified builds nightly
- 04Ran platform certification as a tracked workstream from month three, not month eleven
- 05Instrumented the live-ops loop before launch so week-one telemetry was usable
The outcome
The game launched day-and-date on PC and three consoles, held a 92% positive review score through the first month, and the studio kept full ownership of the engine work.
